Mollettina Vulcano Bench

Natural style and always a talking point.

The Mollettina Vulcano, or Clothes Peg Bench was designed by Baldessari and Baldessari for Riva 1920 in 2012. It is made in solid cedar wood with a red painted metal clip and has a Vulcano blackened natural finish*.

* The blackened "Vulcano" colour is obtained by charring the wood surface to naturally make it anthracite black. This procedure is inspired by ancient Japanese techniques involving the charring of cedar wood structures in homes as a natural remedy against moths, mildew, and fire. The result is a surface which is rough and knurled to the touch with grains in relief. The finish by hand is made using scented natural oils.
